A Breaking News Online PH Advisory:  Extended Until April 30, 2026

By : Celso M. Cajucom

MANILA, Philippines — To support Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families amid ongoing developments in the Middle East, finance super app GCash has extended its zero-fee policy for transfers and select transactions until April 30, 2026.

The waiver applies to Filipinos residing in the  United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Israel, Lebanon, and Jordan. Under this initiative, users will not be charged for bank transfers to the Philippines, as well as other essential transactions such as buying loads and paying bills.

According to GCash, the waived transaction fees will be automatically credited back to user accounts via in-app cashback. No registration is required for eligible users to avail of the relief. Additionally, GCash users within the Philippines can also remit money to loved ones in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman for free via the GCash International Transfer feature.

“The goal is simple: to make everyday transactions more affordable, accessible, and seamless for Filipinos,” the company stated, emphasizing their commitment to monitoring the region for any further financial relief needs.

GCash remains the Philippines’ largest cashless ecosystem, handled by G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mynt—the first and only $5 billion unicorn in the country.

Beyond simple transfers, GCash provides over 6 million partner merchants and social sellers with a platform for digital commerce.

The company is also a staunch supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , specifically focusing on safety, security, financial inclusion, and diversity (SDGs 5, 8, 10, and 13).

This latest initiative for OFWs aligns with their mission to prioritize the welfare of Filipinos through urgent financial action and inclusion.

EDITOR’S NOTE:

A Heart for Our Unsung Heroes in Times of Adversity

At Breaking News Online PH , we believe that news is not just about data and headlines; it is about the stories of the people we serve.

In this time of emergency and uncertainty in the Middle East, GCash management has proven that business can be conducted with a heart.

By waiving these transaction fees, they have chosen to set aside a business opportunity in favor of a dedicated service to our OFWs—our unsung heroes who serve their families and our country without any exchange of advantages.

This is a true novel service for humanity. For our compatriots in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and across the region, this extension is more than just financial relief; it is a gesture of sympathy and concern for those caught in the midst of adversity.

While you are away, working tirelessly for the welfare of your loved ones, know that you are not forgotten. We salute initiatives like this that recognize your sacrifice.

To our OFWs: you are the backbone of our economy and the heart of many Filipino homes. This public service announcement is our way of standing with you, ensuring you have the support you deserve in these trying times.
